About "THE GREATEST"...

Quick one - I've often been curious about what "the world" considers the best in fiction, so I check the lists of past winners of a few of the biggest literary prizes.

Why? - hmmm - to see if I agree? Well, more like to see if - see if - what? - I guess I just need to check to see if my idea of great fiction is the same as all those literary boffins out there. Not that it influences the way that I personally choose to write, or that I'm going to change to be more like them, but .... it's just that ... nup, I'm floundering here!

Why the HELL do I check them??

Okay, lets say that it's because I don't want to feel as though I could be missing out on the best in reading. And oddly enough, mostly I find that, when I track one of these down, I'm not missing out. I get more disappointment than joy. (Especially with bloody Bookers!) Which might simply say that I'm a crap judge of a good book.

Anyway, I've put up some lists of the biggies from the last few decades, down under "The Greatest?" Just in case you also need to know. Know what you're missing out on.  (I've marked the titles that I've actually read with an asterisk). And there's a heap of websites that'll give you a synopsis on them, but the "Goodreads" one is probably one of the best.
