Strangest thing...

We get up at five every morning, and if it's not raining (which has been about forever here in good old South Aus at the moment) I go out into the back yard, (1) to see what the morning is like and (2) to look up into the sky while it's still dark and contemplate the heavens. Check out the stars. All that. See if anyone up there has left me a message. You never know!

Anyway, couple of mornings back, out the back door, lovely and dark and still and clear, look up. And there's two new stars up there, fairly close together, not moving, just a bit north and west of straight up, bright and twinkly. Kid you not, never seen two stars there ever before and I'm pretty familiar with the morning sky.

Then, in about the same amount of time it takes for the oddity of this to sink in, the left hand one starts to fade like God has turned down the dimmer switch, and it goes out! What?? I'm seeing things right? Then damn me if the right hand one doesn't do the same! - I am NOT making this up!  - dims down and goes out!

Being a fairly pragmatic sort of a bloke I stand there for some time, trying to make something fit what I just saw. Two space stations meeting up then turning out the lights just to get me going? A heavenly motor vehicle shutting down? The angels having a laugh? A message from past mates maybe? But what'd that be? Time is running out? I already know that fellas.

Nup, absolutely no idea. And I'm there on my own. Check, nothing in the papers, no letters to the editor, zilch. So I'm none the wiser. And not a dicky bird in that same spot since. Just another one of Life's Great Mysteries. So keep your eyes open my friend, it's all happening up there.

        Cheers....
